In touch today with my longtime friend Keith (since 1975)

I officiated at Keith's wedding to Annette - sometime in the 1980/90s Keith is now retired.  Annette's time will come soon. They now live somewhere on the North Carolina Coast. Laurel Lee is one of their canine rescues.  I swoon!

Bristol (U.K.) Balloon Festival 2024 and the wonderful Don Cameron

Ascensions from downtown Bristol's College Green. You will see my lovely home Cathedral. I can also see the Harbourside Hotel where I stayed last May/June The fabulous Scot Don Cameron revived air ballooning in my home city of Bristol. My niece Emma worked for him. The Bristol Festival is second only to the one in Albequerque N.M., where the climate is more dependable than the one in Bristol.                             JMP  PROUD BRISTOLIAN

A Cooper is a Barrel Maker. It tickled me that this morning my Cooper lifted his leg at a (decorative) rubbish barrel at Bayfront Park.

I think that he will do well. -------------------------------------------------------------- Penne         Zion     Cooper:  a trinity of joy!

Resting back at home after today's walk at the Park,

He looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. Don't be fooled.    He is on the watch for squirrels. I am not holding the leash   -   just in case.

Not the best of days HELP! A mistake and a fall.

Image
I arrived in time for my 8:50 appointment with my Dermatologist.   The Receptionist told me that I did not have an appointment.  She checked the records and told me that my appointment is for Tuesday. I knew that.  Then the light dawned.  Up until that moment I had thought that it was Tuesday, not Monday. You'd think that calendars had not been invented! It got worse. I took Cooper for an early pee walk this afternoon.  He lifted his leg to cue. Then he took a strong and mad dash towards a Squirrel.  I fell down.  And great was my fall. Lots of scrapes.  No bones broken. Pictures not in order. Excuse duplicates. No sympathy please - I was foolish. Fortunately, I had an arm bandage to sop up the blood. It looks worse than it is. BUT  1.  I was foolish in two ways. First, I had taken Cooper on a short leash.  I'd have had more control with the double handled long leash. 2. When he made his mad dash, I should have dropped the leash to let him do his thing. No sympathy for my st

After my post "Avocado Toast Anyone" (the derivation of words) you'll never see an Avocado without smirking or smiling.

Avocado Toast Any One

Image
The word Avocado originated from a word in an Aztec language viz: "ahuacatl"  meaning testicle (from the shape of the fruit) All this and much more from The book is a treasure trove of the origins and stories behind words.  I recommended it highly.

This time he didn't lift his leg. /// JMP the Lachrymose

Cooper made a visit this morning to a local pharmacy, there to meet Pharmacist  M, one of the founders of C.P.F.C. (Cooper Povey Fan Club). Merciful heavens, he did not lift his leg on this visit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of Cooper's friends said that he is channeling the sphinx in this photo'. So be it! But for me the pose channeled my maudlin heart.    My eyes filled with tears for his utter beauty. (Zion also caused my tear ducts to spring into action. My ocular response has a hair trigger!)

Doctor M; and Velma

Image
Dr. M is my Pulmonary Specialist.  I saw him today for a follow up after a recent  chest x-ray.  The good news is that my lungs are rated B+.  There are no troublesome nodules etc, It could/should be a lot worse for this lifetime smoker.  But the risk of a stroke remains.  We talked about this.  Dr. M has noted my wishes should I suffer a stroke which could render me unable to communicate.  My health care proxy also knows my wishes. Good Dr. M.  He did not lecture me.  Instead, he sat down; looked me me in the eyes, and thereby enabled a conversation. Doctoring at its best! --------------------------------------------------------------------- A bit later I was at my local Publix Supermarket.  My clerk/cashier was Velma.  I did a double take. Wonderful Velma had quit some months ago. Now she was back!    What a joy to see her again.  What a joy! As our transaction ended Velma said "thank you my dear!" Oh thank and thank you dear Velma!

The splendid lineage of joy

Good Morning from my home in Sarasota FL

Cooper at the Park; and at the Pharmacy.

Image
This morning at Bayfront Park C and I met my fraquaintance Toni (Antoinette). With my consent he took him for a run. He did fairly well, save that running to heel is not his forte. As they ran I sat and chatted with another fraquaintance. Just as soon as Cooper  heard my voice  (on his way home), he was beside himself until we were together again Later in the day I went to a local Pharmacy so that Cooper could have a lovefest with staff member D-nnielle.

My pharmacist who adored Zion met Cooper today

Image
Mr. C came to the pharmacy today.  It's the one where Zion was all but a mascot.  Two of the pharmacists and one front desk clerk adored him Now 'twas Cooper's turn.  He settled and sat down on command. Mellis-a, one of the Pharmacists happened to be there. Pharmacist M-ria was not. Mellis-a fell in love with my dear Cooper. D-nielle the front desk /cum pharmacy clerk who wept when Zion died was there too.  She too had a love-in with Cooper . No photo' but we will see each other on Thursday when I pick up some scrips. That will be a photo' op. Our canine trainer was (in her words) amazed that C sat down to command in a new place.                                                                        sorry about the repeat photo' Zion was great      Cooper is great    My stomach is too great.
