If Music Be The Food of LIFE (My Soul Was Fed)
Conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya
He conducts with his whole body, almost dancing on the podium.
First: A new acquaintance

Her wonderful "Bonecos de Olinda". Rhythmic, percussive. A wild ride. Like a thrill giving Roller Coaster Ride.
Or like a first date which fills one with nervous excitement.

World Premiere in Boston
Second: An old friend. You think that you like him, but you are not sure.
You listen. Yes, you do like him. Thanks old pal!
Sergei Rachmaninoff "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini"
A superb performance with pianist Sir Stephen Hough.
Such a well deserved crowd pleaser. He gave us a brief encore. I knew the gentle solo piano music, but I forget its composer - sounded like Mozart or Beethoven.
Lo and behold. Approx. 10% of the audience did not return after the intermission. They were there for the Rachmaninoff.
Third: A dear friend I've known since my High School days. He will always be a friend. "Variations on an Original Theme" - the Enigma Variations by Sir Edward Elgar. (All fourteen).
S W O O N !
P.S. For many years Rachmaninoff laboured hard in the vineyard as a performer. His muse came later . It was the Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini which thrust him into the Composers' Pantheon.
Similarly Elgar did not find his just fame until the Enigma Variations.
The concert was the great soul food which I sorely needed.
