Red Light Nothing

When the staff  member at  the Dermatological Clinic called me on Wednesday with a reminder of my appointment on Thursday  I said "Is this is for the Red Light Treatment?"    The clerk answered "yes".

It wasn't.  It was to have some MOHS surgery near my right jaw bone.

However the surgeon, Dr. Bogart, was pleased that I had shaved.  That gave her better access to remove the pre-cancerous spot.

The shaving revealed a condition called Seborrheic Dermatitis where the beard has been.  No wonder that's been itching constantly.  The Dr. prescribed a medical face wash to clear it up.

The Pharmacy called to say that the wash is not covered by insurance.  So I'll pay out of pocket ($155!)

Now for my new look!  Friends like it.

Dr. Bogart said that it makes me look younger.  I said "if you say sexy I'll keep the beard off"  She laughed and said that I shouldn't press her to utter inappropriate speech..  'Twas all very light hearted.

The Red Light treatment will be scheduled for some time in January.

Cheers!

Of course there is the question of my vanity.

I've sported a full beard since 1975.   I had it shaved off in 1981 just to see what I looked like.  I hated it, and regrew it immediately.  It's been part of who I am.

I had my sideburns removed, and my head hair severely cropped earlier this week - in anticipation of the Red Light procedure.

My "new look" : Very short hair, no sideburns, simply a goatee; has been admired by many.

Oh my vanity!    I'll leave it be until after my January Red Light procedure.

You may not vote on this!  You may send money for me to have surgery to remove my turkey neck!

As for the eyebrows.  My first Bishop in the Diocese of Western Mass -  Alexander D Stewart had the widest  ones.

I retain mine as the Bishop Stewart Memorial Eyebrows!

If you like my new look send a gift to Doctors without  Borders.

If you don't like it send money to  Médecins Sans Frontières,
