And Now For Something Completely Different. An Old/New Adventure with Zion

Sarasota and Bradenton are cheek by jowl in S.W. Florida though in different Counties.

Sarasota has a bit of an attitude towards our northern neighbour (in the same way as the  people of Bath, Somerset are snooty about the twelve miles west City of Bristol "my fair city".)

But Bradenton has something which Sarasota could never have.

Here is an official squib about it.

Bradenton Riverwalk

The Bradenton Riverwalk is a 1.5-mile stretch of land lying between the Green and DeSoto bridges along the banks of the Manatee River. It is a major expansion of Rossi Park.

Visitors can enjoy a safe walking path along the river, fishing, beach volleyball, a skateboard park, entertainment events and many educational activities along the way.

They say that a change is as good as a rest. With that in mind I skipped my usual Sunday morning walk at Sarasota's Bay Front Park (thus missing the chance to see my friend Barbara F.-C.), and instead drove the fifteen miles to Bradenton's River Walk.

Here are some random pictures of my adventure with Z

Masts galore

Dawn in the East

The Railway drawbridge: Across which frozen orange juice concentrates are brought by train from Port Manatee to the Tropicana facility in Bradenton

Z. takes it all in.

Bridge to Palmetto

Down here are some fishes for the keen eye  (taken with an imperfect
i-Phone); pointed out to me by two charming young men who were out for their morning friendship walk. If only we'd had a net.

GO NORTH YOUNG MEN!
