AUSTIN
Austin (U.K.) A 30 Car
Chapter House, Bristol U.K. Cathedral, late 12th Century. Here I robed prior to being Ordained as Deacon in 1976. Of course I was well aware of the hundreds of Monks and Priests who'd been in this place through eight centuries.
That word Austin. It's a contraction of Augustinian. What is now Bristol Cathedral was once the home of Augustinian (Austin) Friars. The Austin Church became a Cathedral after the dissolution of the Monasteries, and the subsequent creation of the Diocese of Bristol.
I was vaguely aware of Austin, TX as the capital of the Lone Star State until I was was there for a wedding four years ago.
I'll be there again in a couple of months to join in the celebration of a significant birthday for my beloved friend Dr. Grace Jones.
Whoop dee doo!
